Seville offers three different kinds of ecosystems for nature lovers; one would enjoy the myriad of sand dunes, swamps and pasture lands in and around this city but there are more that Seville or Sevilla offers any tourist.
Tourist places
Seville rose in fame after its hosting stint in the 1929 Latin American Exhibition and the Expo 92 which built up the image of this city as modern and dynamic. Sevilla has plenty of interesting tourist places such as the remains of Itálica, an ancient Roman city site. This ancient city is open for public viewing as it houses an old theatre with a park around its amphitheatre which can accommodate 25,000 spectators. This amphitheatre is considered one of the Roman Empire’s largest in its days of glory.
Many historical exhibits are found in the city’s archaeology museums which showcase many types of cultural mosaics and sculptures. There are plenty of historical monuments in and around Seville which are very accessible through the motorway. Besides the impressive Roman Amphitheatre, Seville also offers the Moorish Alcázar and mosque towers. Seville managed to preserve much of the Arab influence with an Arab medina, religious buildings and exquisite palaces which line its narrow streets.
Surrounding offerings
Besides the impressively rich culture in Seville, there is plenty to be seen and appreciated outside Seville. There is the Córdoba province which is known for its manifold towers and quaint villages alongside the rivers which were previously Phoenician and Roman settlements. There is a strong preservation of former eras’ mosaic collection from the 17th century as well as the 18th century through the preserved towers, steeples, temples and palaces.
These are the province’s source of rich culture and history preserved. There are also many religious monuments such as the famous Santa María church and the San Gil church. The beautiful miradors make an interesting architectural spot for all tourists. There are quaint ducal 16th century villages with impressive monuments of that century where the current Colegiata, villa spanien and University are built.
